Why I
Need a Transformation
As I turned the corner on 50 a few years back, my
self-image of a physically fit and active
middle-aged man got left behind. At 55, I am hopeful
that if I backtrack through too much great food, too
many personal and professional obligations to fill,
and too many other calling interests to answer too,
I might be able to retrace my steps and reconnect
with the body and mind I used to know. The roll
which has become my couch companion (so many
episodes of Seinfeld to watch, and so little time)
is moving me into an otherwise unknown territory of
being overweight. I have the muscle tone of a very
old man, with an energy store to match. If the next
five years flash by in a blur like the last 5, I am
afraid to contemplate what toll gravity, food and
inactivity may take. I definitely am up for the
transformation challenge!
